Security standards are the criteria used to
plan, develop and operate the system to ensure capacity, availability &
quality of service. They demonstrate the link between a licensee’s asset
management activities (eg. planning and forecasting or operation and
maintenance) and the key sector objectives of safeguarding the environment,
protecting public health and minimising public nuisance.
ADSSC has security standards for its
collection, treatment and disposal activities. The standards comprise an
objective for the activity and a list of supporting asset management policies
and procedures which ensure the objective is met. The Bureau approves the
objective for each wastewater activity.
The Bureau assesses ADSSC’s performance
against the security standards for each activity by scrutinising a range of
asset performance and service performance indicators each year. These
indicators are agreed with ADSSC and are aimed at defining the likelihood and
consequence of service failure.
